Kumar takes Harold to a hospital to check him for rabies Harold is cleared, but Kumar's father and older brother - who work there as doctors - see them and Kumar's father confronts Kumar over his failed medical interview. They resume their drive, and when Kumar pulls over to urinate, a raccoon gets in the car and bites Harold. Kumar buys marijuana from one of the students and they are discovered by campus security and forced to flee, losing their marijuana. Kumar suggests stopping at Princeton University to buy more marijuana. The drive-thru employee informs them of another White Castle in Cherry Hill. After traveling to the nearest White Castle in New Brunswick, they find it replaced by "Burger Shack".
After smoking marijuana and seeing an advertisement for White Castle, the pair decide to get its hamburgers. Harold is attracted to his neighbor, Maria, but is unable to admit his feelings. Meanwhile, his roommate Kumar Patel attends a medical school interview, where he is highly qualified but intentionally botches it to avoid getting accepted. Investment banker cubicle worker Harold Lee is pressured by his colleagues to do their work while they leave for the weekend. The sequel, Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, was released internationally in April 2008. It was also a commercial success, grossing over $23 million worldwide. The film received positive critical reception, with praise for the performances of its leads (particularly Harris) and subversion of racial and comedic stereotypes. Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle was theatrically released in the U.S.
Principal photography began in 2003, with filming primarily done in Toronto. Cho and Harris (who portrays a fictionalized version of himself) were cast early, whereas Penn attended seven auditions.

Hurwitz and Schlossberg developed Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle based on experiences and people from when they attended Randolph High School. The first installment in the Harold & Kumar franchise, the film follows Harold Lee (Cho) and Kumar Patel (Penn) on their adventure to a White Castle restaurant after smoking marijuana. But for me, I see it as easygoing, ridiculous, emotionally engaging fun with enough high and low brow moments to satisfy those who appreciate how good modern comedies can actually be if they bothered to try. That said as somebody who saw this equipped with nothing more than a small soft drink and a bag of popcorn I found enough laughs in it, I can only imagine how hilarious this must be if you're on weed simultaneously. My only criticism is that many film fans will go and watch "White Castle" with no plausible intention of being baked in the process.

It combines raunch, sweet overtones and witty dialogue chopped full of laughs held nicely together by energetic performances from the leads. However this one feature some extremely likable and refreshingly hilarious hero's who sideline the expected racial stereotype humour by giving them a witty and clever character twist, whilst understanding who it's audience is, and offering gross out, in your face laugh out loud humour.

The "buddy" road movie chemistry of Harold and Kumar, single-handedly revived the stoner comedy genre at the turn of the millennium, however stoner comedies are a kind of comedy film featuring qualities that can range from gut busting and unique, to "Freddy Got Fingered".
Original, unpretentious, funny and above all well written.
